When all of my blogging friends jumped on the Stitch Fix bandwagon, I was nowhere near it.
I didn’t want to be a fashion lemming –trying it just because everyone else was seemed silly to me.
I figured it wouldn’t really be for me anyway. I help other people pick out clothing for goodness sakes! I don’t need help.
Plus, I like shopping. I do it for fun and relaxation, as a hobby, the way other people like knit and paint.
I figured Stitch Fix would take all of the awesome out of the shopping experience for me.
Guess what though, you guys… I WAS WRONG!
Really, I blame summer.
My shopping experiences this summer have looked largely like this…
and this…
You try going shopping with that person: UN. FUN.
In an effort to attempt to eliminate this drama from my life without sacrificing my personal style, I decided to finally give in and give Stitch Fix a try.
I honestly do not know why I didn’t try it sooner!
It was just as much fun as shopping in the store and one thousand percent easier. I did it in my jammie pants, sans bra, while my kids Nerf gunned each other to death over breakfast.
Living the dream, people. Living. The. Dream.

The 15 Step Guide to Working Stitch Fix Like A Mother
1. Go to StitchFix.com
2. Create an account.
3. Take the style profile quiz. It is one of the most detailed and easy to take style quizzes I’ve done, and I’ve done quite a few if I’m honest. Be sure you take your time to actually look at the clothing in the collages and really think about the likelihood that you will wear them. You might like some of the styles for other people, but remember to only choose things YOU want to actually wear. They were spot on with my styling.
4. Pick your price point. You don’t want to waste time fawning over clothing you can’t or won’t pay for. Their clothing is amazing, but not amazing enough to go into hiding over.
5. Pick your box frequency and your delivery date. I chose just one box a month. I know how I am with temptation and if they sent me three boxes I would buy ALL OF THE THINGS.
6. Pay your $20 styling fee. This is nonrefundable, covers shipping, and will also be put towards anything you purchase from your box. The jacket I decided to keep was listed for $68, I paid $48 for it because they applied my original styling fee.
7. Wait until your delivery date and then make your mail carrier think you’re a creepy stalker person while you wait around your mail box for it to arrive.
8. Scare people at the mailbox when you squee and scream when your delivery shows up. There’s just something about anticipating new clothing surprises that make this experience as enjoyable and engaging as regular old shopping.
9. Go home and shoo everyone away so you can focus on opening your box in peace. Inside you will find five pieces (clothing and/or accessories). They will not be an outfit, they will be separates and they should be matched to your personal style based on how you answered the style profile.
10. Try on everything. See what outfits you can make with your existing wardrobe. Use the cool outfit idea card they include in your box for inspiration.
11. Try everything on again the next day. And then again the next. Ask your Facebook friends to weigh in on your choice. I asked if I should keep this jacket, mostly everyone who commented said YESSSSSS. So I did!
12. Finally settle on what you will purchase and fill out the style survey to let them know what you’re keeping, what you’re returning, and how well you like or disliked your picks. I liked all of them so I went with the item that I thought I’d get the most use out of. This shirt was a little too big for me, but still totally adorable…
13. Try not to get teary eyed when you bag up the skirt you really wanted to keep but didn’t because you didn’t think you’d really wear it much and you stupid face stupid grown up mom lady responsibilities mean you can’t blow $50 on a skirt you might only wear once or twice…
14. Drop your bagged returns off at the post office within three days of receipt so you don’t get charged for all of the items.
15. Come home and convince all of your real life and online friends to sign up too!
If you’re convinced you should be a part of this awesome, go ahead and check it our here: Try Stitch Fix.
Disclosure: I ordered and paid for Stitch Fix because I wanted to. I was not compensated or encouraged to try it by the brand.
