What to Wear: All of the Dresses for Under $20

I have a lot of exciting events coming up in September and October.

Like crazy-awesome-I-really-want-to-vague-post-them-on-Facebook-but-I-swore-I’d-never-be-that-person exciting events.

One I can share with you is my upcoming trip to Turks & Caicos.

I am going for a social media conference but I am taking Mimi and I am so, so excited.

She does so many wonderful things for me and The Dudes and I can’t imagine life without her. She is my best friend and my mentor and my role model and all of the reason I am even a half way decent human being right now.

So, it’s awesome to be able to share this experience with her.

But, what to wear?! Turks & Caicos is not a place you wear a blazer and heels in. And, my summer dress game has not been on point as of late.

The awesome thing about this predicament is that summer dresses happen to not be super popular right now for most retailers and there are SO many awesome sales as they try to unload some of their merchandise.

It’s the perfect time to shop even if you’re not planning an island adventure with your mama!

You can snag some great deals on items you can layer appropriately for fall, and some that you can wear until these summer temps turn down and then put away for the start of next hot weather season.

I’ve had a number of people ask me about my clothing shopping budget, and you know what? It is small you guys.

This is me shopping most of the time…

Because anything other than shoes, a jacket, or a special party dressy dress that is over $40 is not coming home with me. I just can’t afford to roll like that.

Every now and again (like when my Stitch Fix box shows up), I invest in a really nice item that will greatly enhance my wardrobe but, for the most part, I am more frugal in my style endeavors.

In fact, this month I bought 6 dresses and none of them cost me more than $15. That’s a serious win you guys, SERIOUS WIN.

I tried to snag pics in all of them, but you know, it’s a holiday, and like I have a food fetus, and Dude 3 is very ill, and just forgive me, I will share them later. But here’s a taste…

Finding what to wear doesn’t have to be hard or expensive with all of these cute and affordable dress options out there. Here are a few you might want to take a peek at. All of them are functionally fashionable (meaning you can wear them to work or the grocery store) and none of them are over $20!
